Stormwater Quality Management
Stormwater management is a critical area of engineering that must be meticulously planned for various phases of construction. Proper and careful management of stormwater is paramount because it is illegal to discharge anything other than rainwater into a stormwater system.
During construction, stormwater management focuses on controlling erosion and sediment. This is addressed through comprehensive Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), which detail how stormwater will be managed to protect downstream receiving waters. These extensive documents outline the measures to be taken during construction to prevent pollution.
Post-construction, it is equally critical to design sites to meet water quality requirements. When designing post-development stormwater management devices, we first consider soil constraints such as percolation rates, liquefaction potential, and groundwater pollution risks. With this information, we can propose best management practices (BMPs) such as infiltration systems, capture/reuse devices, or biofiltration devices to effectively manage stormwater.
At EPOCH, we ensure that both the construction and post-construction phases comply with all regulatory requirements, utilizing advanced techniques and best practices to safeguard water quality.
